disapointed in prop change
i have a 01 29 outlaw with 2 454 ho .
i was running 25p 3 blades and running a hand held GPS it uas topped out at 70.5 , motors RPM on was running 5150 and the other was at 4800 ? why i dont know ? so i changed the props to a 26 4 blade . bottom end was alot better out of the hole BUT only ran 65.2
my questions
#1 why are the motors running different RPM ? tach off ?
#2 i will not keep the 26 4 blades on , i have alot of blow out at take off on the 25 3 blades , do you think i can swing a 28 3 blade and pick up top end ?
thanks ,
kenny

No. You will not pickup any more speed. If you lost speed with the 26's then the 28's will be worse. Run it with the 26's and send your 25's to Brett at BBlades props and he will make them work for you. Be ready to answer alot of questions about your setup. He will ask so he can get it right for you.
Good luck

My 29 ran 71-72mph GPS with labbed 26" Bravo 1's. I had 1" shortys on it.
Most every other 29 owner I know runs 3 blades & like them. I recently sold a set of labbed 26's to a friend with a 2000 29 Outlaw, stock drive height & 385 HP 454's & he loves them & is faster than ever.
I would 1st swap the propellers to opposite sides & see if the RPM difference moves. If it does you have an unmatched set of wheels & your testing is not valid.
If the problem does not follow with the swap, you have a problem with the engines & that needs to be diagnosed before you can play with wheels.
Good luck.
Also, don't waste your time sending your wheels anywhere else but BBlades.

Yeah On our 1999 29 the 26 B1's Bogged down the topend alot! we could only get about 63-65 out of it...the 25P 3 blades were faster top end but we found the 24P B1's worked best...

thanks ,
jason the engines did the rpm problem before the change .i did drop it off at the repair shop today to see if it was a engine problem or a tach problem .
i dont want to buy labbed props yet , because at the end of summer i will pull both motors and probally join your drive of the month club . lol . and then i will reprop after that .
jason , this is a question for you .. would you rather build NA power for your boat , or supercharged power ? given the engine HP stays the same . example , 540ci 700 hp NA motors vs 454 10.71 blown motors ?

I'm thinking of selling my power & doing some 600+ inch motors.

The boat is probably going to run fastest with the 3
blades, unless it was set up with a high X dimension.
On the tach issue, you can flip the props like Jason mentioned.
I found out the tachs were off on my 1st 29 when the thing
started laying down when the tachs were only showing
4500 rpm's.
I then put it in neutral, ran the rpms up gradually
til it hit 4500 rpm, the tach started to bounce
....low and behold, it was at rev limiter
( 4700 rpms for these specific engines)
so, the tachs were reading 200 rpms slow.
Another thing I found on the current boat, after
doing some playing with drive toe setting,
one engine would run about 200 rpm faster
up on top when the drives were slightly toed
out, I set them at zero toe and the difference
is only about 100 rpms
These are two things easy enough to check.

thanks jason , you settled it for me ! big inch ,fast efi .
jaayteee , the tach problem is the same with both sets of props ? so i dont see it being the props . i have it at the boat shop now , he is going to hook up the computer and see what the engines have been turning in RPM. i agree i think tach is bad , but which one is correct . if a tach is bad i will replace both .

I'm not saying I wouldn't use a supercharger over big cubic inches, I'm just saying that I want to build a pair of big inch motors because I never have.
After Ben got my EFI tuned in, I love how my little 454's sing!
