What's It Worth 97 Baja Islander 252 (Pics inside)
I have an option to purchase this 1997 Baja Islander 252 and am trying to decide if it's a good deal. From the pics it appears to be super clean and shows somewhere under 300 hours on a 7.4. Supposedly the first owner did some cam work, but the current owner isn't sure about the details.
The owner said that it is an 8 out of 10 with the only issue being a small seam tear on the sunpad. It comes with the snap in cockpit and bow cover as well as a road cover. He also has a 2 biminis for it. The boat is about 14 hours from me and I'm considering going to take a look. He was asking 20k but I can buy it for 17k cash.
What do you guys think?

Now he's had a change of heart and wants $19,000. I still think that this is a good price? I'm thinking of going to look at it next weekend.

It's all your preference. If everything is in order and no rot, motor runs strong, and you have the money, and your happy...buy it. Price may be a touch high for my likeing, but hey, thats me.

17000 was a fair deal 19000 is to much. My uncle had one of these and they are rock solid boats. I think you can get a better deal. You also need to consider the money you will have in going to pick the boat up.

Based on the market I would say even 17 is a bit high. Would think more like 14-15.
And I agree with the previous post. Walk away. Price should be going down... not up. Good luck to him on selling that... he is going to need it.
