Jim,
I have an 87 Sport 240 with a HP500 with some work and it moves pretty good. If it were me I would go with a 454 or 502 but then you will need a Bravo 1 which will add another 5-6K to the price. You also will probably need all new accesories as well, but i'm sure other guys on here can answer that question better than me. I think you would get more enjoyment out of the boat with a big block.

IMO, it would be much cheaper to just drop another 350 in there. If you go to a bbc, there are a number of things you will have to change. Pretty expensive, but then, I'm cheap!

buy one of the high powered 350s I think my buddy payed 3400 for a 350 325hp and bought stainless marine headers for 1600. if you put a 260hp inthat boat you won't sell it for more than 5g I think. I have a friend who has a good all around baja 87 240sport but it has a ford 460 and omc drive he does not one bit at 8,000.00 so if anyone wants a 240 cheap he would take less. I have a bravo 1 drive and full transom for 3grand. art
