Default 245 or 25 Outlaw?

I am looking at an 07' 245 w/ 496 and an 05' 25 outlaw w/ 496. the prices are pretty similar with outlaw coming in at a few grand less. Please give me the positives and negatives and your opinions on which I should buy.

Thanks!

Well.. since no one is jumping in I may as well throw my 2c in.

I will have to say there is a lot more to it than just the two models. For me... it is the lines of the boat, over all look and ride in the water. Another major factor for me would be how well it was taken care of... was it a tool or someone's baby? I would for starters get it in the water and run them, see which one gives you the ride and handling you'd prefer if you haven't already done so.

Me.... I love the looks of the Outlaws. But then that is just me and my simple opinion.

25 Outlaw is a much larger boat. The overall length on the 245 includes the swim platform while the 25 OL is actually 25' from transom to nose. I personally like the styling of the Outlaws much better than the performance series.

While I own a Performance series boat the above posts are dead on. I'd buy the 25OL not only for length, but room. If you were comparing 275 to 25OL it would be closer comparison and more points to address

Without seeing them Id choose the Outlaw in the style dept and a better cuddy in my opinion.

However, if the Outlaw was a salt water boat or sat outside uncovered alot, I would definately be all over the 245 that was only run on inland lakes by Grandpa a couple times a year.

Thanks for the input guys, the outlaw was always my first choice but the 245 seemed to be an excellent deal, check it out if anyone is interested.

I have owned both. I had a 2004 245 with 496mag and boss package and I have owned a 2006 25 Outlaw with 496HO.

First, we loved both boats but in hindsight I wish I had purchased the 25 first. Not that the 245 is not a good boat but the 25 fit our boating needs much better.

The ride of the 25 is far superior to the 245. First, the 25 Outlaw is a true 25 foot boat with a 24 degree deadrise where as the 245 is closer to a 23 foot with only a 23 degree deadrise. Add to that a heavier boat in the 25 foot boat and ride on rough days was amazingly better in the 25 Outlaw. The cabin in the Outlaw was much larger for actual overnighting without the need for filler cushions like in the 245. The one area the 245 was better in was cockpit room since as with all Performance models is much more roomy.

I also felt the 25 Outlaw was a much more solid boat due to actually having a traditional stringer design. The 245 is one of the liner built boats and after about 40 hours developed several creaks and rattles to it. My 25 had 75 hours on it when I sold her and she was just as solid as the day I purchased her.

My boating consisted of mostly lake boating on a very busy river system with about 6-7 poker runs a year thrown in.

If I were going to buy again and it was a choice between a 245 and a 25...I would go with the 25 Outlaw all other things being equal.

I have a 272 with 200hrs on the hull and just dyno and test hrs on the motor you can buy for 35k. The boat looks new and the new procharged motor has 730hp and 775fpt. Has the Boss pack w/racing screen. You get the best of both. The look and the room in the cockpit. PM me for pics.
