Bravo 3's are much slower than Bravo 1. Do you have a GPS? There is no way 300HP will get you 61MPH with any outdrive. A 300HP engine with a Bravo 3 in a 236 Baja = 53 MPH. Also no way you are running 81 with only 575 HP.

do have a gps and a radar gun dont think they are both broke
it does surpise alot of people how it runs. i have try a brave 1
on the boat with a 1.51 gear and it lost 5-7 mph.i was told that a brave 1 would be faster but it wasnt just my 2cents.
i know it works for me because i own the boat.

before i order the boat from GSC we did a test drive on a demo boat they had at the water show. it had a 300hp and a brave 1.51 boat ran 56mph i order mind with the brave 3. with the brave 3 the motor is a 350 at prop because the brave3 take a lot more power to spin and ran 61mph

OK, this is the first I heard about the oil alarm. Are you still running the stock oiling system from the 330? That system sucks, the oil cooler is the size of a beer can. Take a look for a thread called "Oil system problems with stock hardware" somthing close to that. I use a 3"x18" oil/ps cooler. I switched out all my lines and fittings to 12AN. With 375HP you may not need to go that big, a 2"x18" would probably be fine. AN fittings may not be required but at least get some non restrictive fittings. Hope that helps.

So you had a Mag engine not the 330HP at the crank engine. The Mag engine in that year should have been a carb 365HP at the crank. That would give you about 330 at the prop.

the 496 that replaced the 454 was complete meaning it was a complete bolt in. i think i have that issue figured out. Have two things to change one is the raw water pump its worn and not pumping enough volume of water (will not hold suction at idle on muffs). I have more water flowing out of starboard exhaust then port side, slowly heating up oil considering 496 oil cooler is located on port side. I have also noticed a new exhaust manifold that was put on port side is cast iron with original aluminum one on starboard side, causing different temps on each side of engine. I purchased boat last year shortly after the re-power was completed and seems im stuck working out the bugs!

Do you have any pics of your 236? We had a 95 also and it had the 454 with 300 hp but don't know what gears it had with the bravo 1 and I think it ran around 50 if I remember right. We ended up saleing ours to someone in New York and bought a 05 275. Here is a pic of our 236.
