Default 1995 baja 236 ?

Does anyone own or have experience with a 95 baja 236? I purchased boat with a 496 mag and curious of what prop would be my best bet for all around performance and speed. Currently has a 21p mirage plus and not to happy with overall speed 45-50 mph. Boat has original bravo 1 drive that was originaly powered by a 454. 496 mag 375hp was installed and everything else left the same. In reading motor specs WOT should be around 4600-4800 rpm. Im able to go over that with 21P prop, looking for a prop that will keep me in that range with best performance and speed gain. Runs 30mph at 3500rpm currently. Im not sure of gear ration in bravo1 buts its original drive fron 1995. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

That is not a very common boat. I have a 94 and I have taken it from 55 to 70 MPH. When I had the 330HP I had a 21pitch Mirage prop it ran 55 MPH @ about 4700 RPM. Do you have a GPS? If you are turning 4600-4800 you should be in the 55 to 56 MPH range.

Default baja 236

Yes it is uncommon but thats one of the reasons i like it. Im getting 50ish on gps but rpm's will climb up over 5000 and i have to back off throttle. Im afraid of gernading the engine by over reving due to to small of a prop. This past weekend i happened to look down at rpm gauge and it was reading up over 5300 rpm and climbing. I was also given a new michigan wheel apollo 23P (part#993026) with boat i have yet to try. Im sure it will help but is it enough? What was your stock bravo 1 gear ratio?

I was tied up next to a 25 Outlaw last weekend, there is so much more cocpit room in the 236 than any other power boat I have seen. I have had mine for 11 years and have kept it because of all the things that make it different. Like the walk through windshield with the molded in steps, anchor locker, ect... Getting back to your issues. The tach may be off. The 496 Mag has a rev limiter. Tap on the gage it will usually go back to normal. The Mirage prop works well on that boat, a lab finnish with "double cup" makes a big differenct. You should be able to run 4800 RPM @ 56-57MPH. You may have somthing out of wack with the engine. Start with the easy stuff like plugs, wires, timing, then let us know what you find out after that. Here is a link for you to play with. Your prop slip should be very low due to the deep propshaft. Mine is about 10-11% with the lab finished 25 Mirage. http://www.rbbi.com/folders/prop/propcalc.htm

mirage prop work the best and give you top speed !!!! i try a lot of props the mirage ,not the plus. the plus runs 200 more rpms then the old mirage .rember one pitch is 200rpm. you need to no wot is on your motor and prop it closest to that number and your boat will run the best

Havent been able to get out on it recently do to work schedule and weather but will try again as soon as i can get out! Had an issue with oil temp rising at WOT but new pump should correct that next time out. Seems like im constantly working out the bugs since i purchased the boat.
