Engine Lid cover is coming apart at seems...

So I have noticed that the engine lid cover as been slowly ripping apart at some of the seems. I am sure this is due to both walking on and UV rays. My next question is how big of a job is this for a local shop to do? And should all the stiching on the pad be redone? Ballpark on costs?

Wayne take it to XT and have them do it. You'll be sorry if the local shop can't match the vinyl or they do a ****ty job. My 272 came apart and it turned into mess.

7-Bajas, all gone!
Baja Man,

Have it done right! Send me a photo and I will get you a good price. Baja did switch to a better thread in 2006, but we are using even better "Tenara TR" tread on anything that we repair.

I would suggest having the wood liner replaced as well. They're notorious for becoming water logged and rotting.

Is there wood on an '04 25 OL under the padding? I know there is fiberglass but not sure about the wood.

The fiberglass is just a shell...It's plywood under it.

On your 2004 there is plywood along the edge to staple the cover in place. Most models switched to a plastic "Prolite" material around 2006 that will not decay. Your's is probably ready to be replaced? The photos are of my 29 OL after only two seasons, and that is why we pushed to change to the higher priced Prolite material.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. More than the seems coming apart is the warping and wavy looking.

Thought about having my re-done as well.

I had dave ( XTinovators ) do a 33 and
a 36 baja and it was a perfect match.
If you want it done right give him a
call.
