Dont just hack the tips.. Do it right & replace them.. They arent that expensive to replace & do it the right way. There is no major performance gains achieved, but it does help & will sound louder & better. I also recomend that there is some sort of flapper inside to help reduce the risk of water intrusion which is not to be confused with reversion..
