Captains Call Exhaust Question
Hello,
I am interested in either a 232 or 272, however the wife does not like the sound of loud exhaust. I have not tested a boat with selectable exhuast, but does the "silent" option that dumps the exhuast into the water make it fairly quiet like a normal boat?
Thanks!

Yes is dumps the exhaust through the hub on the outdrive just like a boat that does not have thru hull exhaust.
I'm glad my wife loves the noise. She wants me to leave the mufflers off!
Louder is better
Enjoy

Is it true that you cant run past about 3500 RPM with "closed" exhaust? just something I heard and wondered if there was any truth to it.

That is what I understand. Also, in many States, like MO selectable exhaust is illegal.

I was told the same thing too.
Mine is an '05 and has the baffles in the exhaust and even when going through the hull - it isn't very loud.
I am getting new tips this winter. Hopefully a good X-mas present.

+1 on the new tips. The new Corsa muffler tips are really quiet!
Quiet sucks in my opinion.
A person could go with the Gibson donkey-d!cks too. They are really quiet at idle, but the sound comes up on plane.

Have you ridden in a boat with thru hull exhaust BUT with the exhaust existing under a molded in platform...while not "quiet", you can carry on a normal conversation in the cockpit at idle or underway.

My Baja has Imco exhaust/mufflers that exit under the swim platform, and I love the sound, its not SO loud that you cant stand it, but, you aren't gonna mistake it for a Sea Ray either!
From what I have been told its ALOT cheaper [and easier] to put mufflers on than to install switchable exhaust, especially if you have to install the "Y" pipe.
