Default Step on 25 Outlaw?

Saturday at LOTO shootout i saw an older 25 Outlaw that appeared to have a step. Does anyone know if this has ever been done to one? Or was the sun and beer just getting to me?

Mine 29OL is from -99 and it has the edges back of the sides cut in a little bit. If you just glaze on it quick it could look like a small step.
They took that away on the newer boats.

The 25's have an indention on the side of the hull that looks like a step, but it isnt. I thought the same thing the first time I saw one

All I can say is they were not my idea!

We nick-named them "speed rails" at Baja in the day. I have never been one to support a gimmick, and IMO all they did was make the hull harder to laminate, and make it harder to do the nice in-gel graphics. Not sure how they really affected turning, and handling because we never tested with, and w/o?

Again just my opinion.
