Default History Lesson 232, 252, 272

Alright - I've learned some things from my last 252 thread, but would like to learn a little more.

What is the History of the 232, 252, 272? It seems like the 252 and 272 were made for many more years than the 232? Did any of the three have any major design chages in their production life? Any particular years to stay away from?

I too would like to learn some history, especially on the 272!

The only thing that I can add is "from what I know" the shooter is the predecessor to the 272/275 and I am not positive but I think it is the same bottom.

XT?....

Default Bump

Bump - There has to be some History out there on the design iterations of the boats.

TTT...I read a thread not too long ago about hulls originating from others, have these come from another hull or did Baja lay them out themselves?

Default Start from XT -

Here's a start from XT -

After we created a shorter hull design from the 272 tooling I had them make a fiberglass section of a 272 cockpit and we inserted it into a 252 hull part to create the 252 deck plug. The vents were moved from the rear center to the sides and the length was taken from the forward deck area only. Different windshield, one hatch, and shorter swim platform were the main diff. The cockpit carpet pattern fits the same in both the 252 and 272. The 232 was designed from scratch and is also a great little boat, but with 23 deg. deadrise.

The 252 measures 25' 6" overall but the hull swim overhang is much shorter than the 272 swim. There is less difference in the running surface between both models than you think. Maybe just over one foot less.
