Question Volts?

I have a 2005 25 Outlaw. Replaced the batteries last weekend and the main engine battery stayed between 12 and 13 volts with the motor on and cruising. This weekend the main battery seems to stay around 11, maybe just below or above. My question is if my alternator is not keeping the battery charged enough as I seem to be getting alarms ever since I have had these battery issues. What kind of volts are you showing or should I be at with the motor running? Thanks.

Your volt meter should show 13.5 volts minimum when running. Here is a quick test to see if alt is charging. Get a volt meter, put it on battery terminals. Check voltage. Should be 12-12.8. Then start motor keeping volt meter hooked up. Reading should jump up to 13.5 or more. If not, alt is not charging. You could also pull batteries out and take to auto parts store for a free load test. You mihgt have a bad cell in one, even though it is new.

May have it figured out. I checked the wiring on the alternator yesterday and found that the cable that runs to the battery had disconnected from the ring clamp. Gonna try and fix it today. I'm sure that's it.
