X1 also how old are the batteries? were they on a charger all winter? make sure they are holding a charge.

I agree with checking the batteries first. Keep it simple to start out.

Nobody has mentioned the actual key switch. When you turn the key to 'on' do the gauges flicker/reset to zero like they are receiving power? Sounds like the problem lies at the actual key switch, not on down the line if it eventually starts.

Batterys are brand new, and was thinking maybe the key switch. Figured though the odds of both going bad at the same time, probably not but a possibility. Figured it would most likely be a ground, or neutral switch, or kill switch.

Similar symptoms for me last year. Mine was the slave solenoid on top of the engine.

Similar problem on my Nordic Heat with merc 525. Checked the basics at the ramp, neutral safety, battery etc. Left the ramp and headed home. Got home and started to check things out. Turned out to be a loose fuse in the fuse holder for the ignition.

Yea my kill switch now 11 years old has started to give and it is at the point where it toggles contact and no contact.
