63 with my 272 - 454 Mag, Bravo 3 drive.

Yep, she should be running faster than that.

This is my first go fast how much should I be trimming the drive up. I read that you trim up till it stops increasing and I would trim it up a little bit from full down and it would go up a mph or and then seem to stop. Maybe I wasnt going far enough???

I was running tabs full up. Water was pretty smooth and boat was flying level.

If you stored it outside, check your bilges- sounds stupid - but........i towed my 80mph boat from fl. To san diego with the drain plug out. Took it out a couple times, always removing the plug. It was noticably slow-i was ready to take it to the shop when kneeling to check my prop i noticed color inside my drain hole .........a @#$# plastic plug fitting perfect from the inside. I cleared it and nearly an hour later it was empty! ........and thats how a 1000lbs+/- of florida rain water got to so. Cal. And my speed was back
He said he was getting 70 out of it. That was before I swapped the gauges all out for Livorsi and added the GPS speedo. I know the bilge is empty and there is no water in it. Is it possible that my speedo is off due to gps antenna placement? It doesnt seem to be as i am dead on with 5mph in no wake zone. I thought with gps you either have it or you dont and it wouldnt loose accuracy as you went faster.

You should have it well up from all the way down. If my trim indicator worked I could tell you where mine likes to run, but it's broken. I just do it by feel. If the boat starts porpoising you've gone too far. The trim isn't going to make up the diference between 52 and 70 mph though, there's something else going on.

Prop slip? Bad hub in prop..if its turning 4600, with 4 people and 3/4 tank of fuel that sounds right on rpm. Your off on something. My 240 sport with a 502 runs 70...

Definitly not the prop slipping. I've got an 1.25 shaft with an xr solid hub setup. My prop slip calculation is 22%

On my 235 it makes a pretty big difference with drive all the way down to trimmed out for max on calm water. Is it 18 mph...I don't think so, but I know its a good bit. Wouldn't you have to spin the motor pretty high to hit 70 mph with a 23 mirage plus prop? I'm some what of a rookie myself, but that stuck out when I was reading through the OP. I have a 235 force and when I had a 23 mirage plus I was only getting about 63 at 5100 rpm's.

I think you don't have it trimmed out far enough! Trim will increase several mph. If it is a 502ci 415hp 60-65mph will be about the best you will get out of it!

That still seems super slow. Do you have a handheld gps? Even a car gps would work. I'm not sure if gps speedos can be hooked up wrong or not, but it's worth a try.

Similar set up....27' Baja w/new 509ci, 24" prop and lots of extra weight I can hit 69mph on gps @5k rpms. Prior to changing anything run it w/you only in the boat and see what you get @ 5k rpms. 4 people is a lot of weight but I'll agree, you should be in the 60s.
