I think any little increase in cockpit space is a big diffference coming from our cramped cockpits lol

A 29 with extension boxes will ride much better than one without.
I'm not pitching what I have for sale, I'm just sharing what my experience has been.
I've tinkered with mine to the point I know where & what it takes to make one perform.
I wouldn't want one without boxes. I would want one with a high X dimension. I would want one without superchargers. I would want a trailer with wheels & tires over-rated for capacity & brakes on all 3 axles. I would want one with full hydraulic steering & K-planes.
There are less expensive options out there, but what are you willing to sacrifice in boat to save & eventually be unhappy with because you saved a few grand?

How does the higher x/ext boxes help? I know it gets the driver higher, but how does that effect ride.
Oh, I would add one thing to your list.. "alum trailer"
I bought my boat at shogren and showed lil rust and it was ate up from the inside out and had to literally throw it away after 1 year after a hanger bracket collapsed into the channel!! nice!

I agree... depends on the rating of axles and tires, but still a lot of weight on 4 trailer tires and yes, those tires are really for back, they must have one big a$$ truck to offset the tongue weight! My 25 is balanced, I can pull it with my 4dr jeep wrangler to the launch by the house with no problem! (only rated at 3500#)

so if I am correct in my assumption, the Kplanes and ext box really carry the rear when plowing thru chop and effectivetly adding a couple feet to the boat? like having a 32ft "riding surface" boat

You are somewhat correct. I have owned both a baja 272 and a 29 OL. I have friends with a 25 OL and a 302. The 25 OL has less cockpit space than the 272 (both boats are 25' long). The 29 OL has less cockpit space than a 302 (both boats are 29' long). IMO the 272 and the 29 OL have about the same cockpit space. I base this by the room in between the rear bench and the back of the front bolsters. The 302 by far has the most cockpit space.
