Default New 335

Guys, I bought a 2008 335 late last year and I noticed that the max rpm
on the 6.2s was about 4400 rpm on a suggested range of 5800. I sent the Bravo B1 four blades 22 pitch to Bret at BBlades and he suggested taking some diameter off which he did. So I ran the boat today, 63 degree temp full of fuel and two people. Max rpm was 4500 at 54 GPS mph no matter how I trimmed the boat. In hot weather this will be a dog. At 4000 rpm the boat ran 47 mph. What do I need to do prop wise to get to proper operating range, reasonable out of the hole, and reach the correct mph at WOT? Thanks for your help. Quent

I'm guessing you meant 4800 wot not 5800? I think I would have started at a set of 22pitch bravo 1's and then labbed them up after I ran them.. Seems like 55 with small blocks isn't to bad at all, that's a pretty big cruiser..

Fleg, you are correct. I made a couple of typos. I have edited the original post and fixed it. Thanks.

You might be able to get a 1-2 mph on top end but with 190 gal of fuel, your cruise will probably be best where you are now. Thats nice boat for cruising, but Boat Test only ran 68.9 with HO's and probably didn't have full fuel during that.

I was in the same boat with my 25 ol. You will gain wot mph with additional labbing but will sacrafice cruise which is probably your goal.. Unfortunately, you cant have both

Once you loose some of the weight from the fuel your rpm may go up some.. What's brett got to say? Send them back and tell him you need 300 more rpm.. Or if they make them find a set of 20p Bravo 1's and see what they will do for you.. I know Brett has a loan out program too..

Fleg, Brett is at Desert Storm. I agree that the fuel load is somewhat of a factor. The smallest B1 pitchwise is a 22.

If you are concerned with cruise speeds then you should look at a 5 blade propeller like the P5X or Maximus. You'll have to chance gear ratios to get the RPM you desire but you'll have a much better performing boat over what you have now when it comes to cruising with a full load of gas & a$$.
If you want to run fast, I still think a gear ratio change is in order along with sticking to the Bravo 1 propeller.
