Default Found the possible deal... Top end on a 232 with a 6.2?? Opinions on this setup?

Hey Guys.... First off, thanks for the patients!! I have been immerged in finding a boat for the past couple of months. I made an offer on this boat, and the guy took to the bait.... However, it has a 6.2L MPI instead of the 7.4. He said he's got 58 out of her. Not sure if that is GPS or gauge. What are you all's general consensus of this setup?

Same horsepower but less torque than the base 7.4 and less weight ,,,, good balance,,,, easy to work on,,,,

Should be a nice little package

I have that setup. 19P Mirage did 55 GPS 1/2 half tank of fuel and 300lbs of people. Hoping to go to a 21P, 23P, or 21P 4-blade to get to 60. Overall great boat.

Seeing both engines are non mag and dont have forged internals. The 6.2 is the better choice imo. 10 hp less difference and way more weight savings. Should be better on fuel with same top speed. Or look into the 272 if previous poster is in your price range. Much bigger boat wont have the 2 foot itis in a year or two. I went from a 20 foot islander to 272 huge difference.

You wont be disapointed with my boat if you decide to buy a baja.... Fountain will be faster, but the 24° hull straight "V" will ride better...

If you are already running in your engines recommended WOT rpm range I don't think you will be able to turn any of those props without engine upgrades.

There were a few discussions about the 6.2 in a 232. Someone claimed the 21P made a 5 MPH improvement. My boat is really quick out of the hole right now and my Tach isn't working 100% so Im going to borrow a couple props just to see. Have my fingers crossed. Might even move to a 19P 4-blade if there is some advantage.

Just not a lot of info out there on the 6.2 so want to see what I can find out. Will share my learning for sure.

Overall though we are happy with the 232 6.2 combo even at the 55 MPH mark.
