I think that was more of a spin out due to pilot error/poor judgement... But I ain't one to gossip, so you ain't heard that from me.

Seriously ya, that's about how it looks. A couple of back and forth skips and the next thing you know you're in the floor with your eye swole shut.

Ya don't say.

The drive shower pickup nearly didn't fit with the new prop.

I trimmed it crudely with a hacksaw, so we'll see how it works tomorrow.

Now that I have the M+ off I can really see how that thing is pretty beat with the tips cupped over. Fingers crossed!

So...tested the new prop over the weekend.

23p 4 blade Revolution 4.
~60g of fuel on board.
Fresh drive fluid
Drive shower trimmed up
3 adults and an ice chest
Bimini top folded up on the front windshield
Huge tube tied to the back sun deck
80* weather on a slightly choppy lake

Top speed squeezed out was 54mph at an indicated 4800rpm
No blowout to speak of!

The new prop felt great - nice shot out of the hole, handles way better, much more responsive to speed adjustments, and even docked/loaded up easier as well. It achieved the 50 mph mark much much easier than it did with the M+. I was pretty stoked with the performance of the prop, but was hoping for just a bit more top speed.

It looks like that may be all this boat has got. The motor is an Eagle 502, so that should be a reliable part of the equation. I had a few toys on board, from the reviews that I've seen have shown this boat to go 60-65mph with the stock 454. I otherwise love the boat.

Do the islanders run really bow heavy for some reason? You should be close to tapping 70 with that motor, my 25 outlaw with a merc HP500 which is 500 HP at the crank and 470 HP at the prop runs 72. I am sure there are differences in the bottoms of the two boats, but that seems really slow for a 500 HP engine. Did the boat respond to trim inputs better with the rev 4? Did you try trimming it to the moon to see how the boat reacted? I don't have any experience with the rev 4 but i have seen quite a few members on here running it and they seem happy with it. One last question, maybe you already stated it and i missed it, but what is the gear ratio of your out drive?

The Islanders do run a touch slower, but something still seems not quite right. I've looked at the hull and nothing looks out of order for a 20 year old boat. What are the odds of the oem tach reading wrong? The rest of my gauges are a bit funky but I figured that a tach is a tach.

The boat otherwise performed great with it. I tried tabs neutral and tabs up, and then trimmed the outdrive until rpms picked up and speed dropped.

I guess you could try a different tach, if gauges are acting up may be something there. Like i said before i am not familiar with the rev 4 but seems odd to me that you are spinning a 23P four blade prop at the same RPM as you were a 23P three blade prop. Just an FYI my HP500 would spin my 25P M+ 4800 before my lab job, so i would think that if your engine is making 500 HP you would of been spinning that 23P M+ more than 4800 RPM. I hope some of this info helps, i am just skeptical that the engine is making 500 HP at this point, but there could be something else, hopefully there is. Did you ever check the ratio on your bravo 1?

I'm skeptical as well. It's topping out more like a 400hp motor. I'm going to try some jetting changes and go from there. Tachs typically either work or they don't from my experience, but it does rest at about 1200 and I get a loud popping noise though the stereo speakers when I use the trim tabs (even with the stereo off), and have found some other funky wiring the previous owner did.

The Rev4 prop had great pop and acceleration, and was about 200 rpm slower but 5mph faster than the 23p M+. If it's possible that the tach is just reading 500rpm slow that would be the cheapest problem solving ever, LOL!

The boat did come with a MSD HEI Marine ignition and am finding some issues about setup on the web regarding rev limiter, advance, etc. I'll look into what I've got set up currently. It does jump up to the 4800rpm pretty quickly then labors to get much past that.

The drive is confirmed to be 1.5 ratio Bravo1.

Would be sweet if it is just the ignition, only chitty part is that if it starts to spin that brand new prop to fast... or did you do the bblades test program, good luck!
