Tow a 29 outlaw with a Bronco?
Has anyone towed a 29 outlaw with a ford bronco or something similar? 1/2 ton pickup? I have a 96 Ford Bronco with the 351, air bags in the rear and tow package that I have had since brand new - it's my pride and joy. I do not want to part with it. I'm thinking about a 29 outlaw with 2 big blocks and a steel tri-axle trailer with brakes on all axles. I really don't tow far... a couple of miles usually and twice a year I do a 100 mile trip on pretty flat ground to a lake north of my home. I have towed a 25 outlaw and 24 outlaw with no problems. I know this 29 is a bit over the recommended limit, but I'm hoping I could do it if I'm careful.

Way too short of a wheelbase for that setup not to mention being overweight. If you get out of shape, you are going ass over appetite. Given where you live, and that truck is your pride and joy, I can't imagine that's your daily driver in winter. Pick up another truck for winter driving, a 3/4 ton with 4WD; something like a Ford F-250 with at least a 5.4L or GM 2500HD with 6.0L; and use that for towing the boat.

+ one more. The wheel base is the problem. The tail will definatley be wagging the dog, especially on the highway. Sydwayz hit the nail, get a Winter truck that doubles as your tow rig for the 100 mile trip..

I towed a 1985 302 kaama edition Formula on a aluminum trailer with a 1986 Bronco with a 4 inch lift and 34s down to the lower Keys from Naples 20 years ago.
The boat nor the truck were not mine and I thought it would tow bad. Actually not bad at all but we took 41 all the way down.
I wouldn't want to go out on the highway and have to do 70 mph to keep up with the traffic while having Semis blow by me at 80 but at 55 on a 2 lane it was more than fine..
Formula was much heavier than your boat it had a aluminum trailer that was lighter than your steel.

No. Freaking. Way.
I had both a 1986 and 1994 Bronco. I towed a 22.5 Crownline short of 20 miles with the '94 before I went straight to the dealership and bought a Z71 Tahoe. That boat for its size was heavy and was very disconcerting in regards to how it handled due to the wheelbase.
I'm in awe that you even towed a 25'.
I wouldn't even process the idea of towing a 29' anything with that wheelbase. They are awesome trucks and I'm glad to see Ford is thinking about bringing them back but use them for what they are and towing isn't it.

Lord no. We towed a 21 Celebrity with a Blazer and after pewking due to frayed nerves, i left the boat in Springfield and had a friend go get while we found something else to tow with. It took 2 valium and 4 beers to get my hands to stop shaking. I was petrified and almost lost my life that day. Uphill was great, downhill, was well, death defying.

I might do it a few miles from the house to the launch if you lived that close,,,,, but anything approaching highway speeds or more than 5 miles and I would not,,,,,,, I towed a Baja 272 with 2 door Tahoe for one season before stepping up to a 2500 Pickup,,,,, same thing,,,,, Tahoe was my baby,,,, but not worth a life..
Im a firm believer in more truck than you need,,,,, you will appreciate it when you have to make an evasive maneuver
