Default 29 ol

What kind of ride and top speed can you expect out of a 29 OL with twin 454 MPI base motors. The boat is box stock and not a SST. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
thanks

Maybe 65... I'd stretch for 454 mags if you could. The ride on the 29 is good, we had no complaints out of ours, maybe a bit of chine walk at wot when I would pick the tabs up to try and get more out of it.

T-RAV do you remember how well it did on fuel? two motors surely would eat a lot more than one.
Thanks RB

OI had a 97' with 7.4's.....it ran low 60's.

The twins will burn more fuel if you run them hard....just cruising, the twins are not working as hard as a single is to run the same speed, so the fuel consumption difference isn't that much

A friend of mine had a 29 profile with a single 502 mpi, we ran from Duluth Mn to Two Harbors and back, he used 100 gallons, I used 120

There wasn't anything wrong with the boat other than it was a bit boring.....I only had it for 2 years before I upgraded to a 29 w HP 500's.......I'd pass on anything less than mag mpi's.....k planes and external steering are also something that usually come with when you get up to these engine options

My buddy's with the twin 310 horse engines run low 60's. The best, very best he ever saw was 64 mph. On gas of 1 vs. 2, cruise is very objective. My single 29 will cruise at about 32 mph and cruise on his is more like 45. So, my cruise burned less than his but at same mph, I'd guess I will burn more than him.
We bought ours for the ride, not for the speed and for that purpose, the hull is great.

I would have never thought my 2000 with 385 Mags would have done 70 until the Roger was doing it at LOTO right next to me n the Cig with my gps !! But that was LOTO and he was probably Outta the water more than IN lol
