You will LOVE your new 33 Outlaw. I absolutely loved ours and am proud to have owned one.
I agree it sounds like the perfect boat for your family, nothing else compares.

Good luck on your search

I shot him a message this morning and look forward to hearing back. All reliability/"non-stock" issues aside the prospect of having new power is quite appealing.

You guys have been exceedingly helpful. Great forum.

The cargo net seating in the cabin probably wont be the best for kids to sleep on...and I think I need a bit more $$ than what he's looking to spend

Working on a making a deal. This board has been very, very helpful. I should have come here long before my hours spent on Boat Trader and Ebay.

The weather gods are helping my patience here in Michigan. A balmy 31 degrees this morning helps ease the pain of not being on the water already.

I just got my first survey quote back at $25.00 per foot. Holy crap. Is that what you guys are paying these days? I was expecting $15ish? And at $25 this only included an exterior engine check for "leaking oil" from the sounds of it.

Maybe I really have been out of the game for too long!

Seems excessive for a survey. And lots of these guys are clowns. Most importantly, check that the stringers and transom are solid and dry. How many hours are on the boat/engines?

High 400's on the boat and 100/200 on the engines (rebuilt at different times). In order to get into the boat I want I think I'm going to have to forgo the $800+ survey and do my best to check it myself. I'm comfortable looking over the engines, electrical and drives but checking for rot/waterlogging is quite foreign to me. Not a lot of info out there other than the "tap test" and listening for changes in sound. This sounds pretty straightforward unless you have no idea where the stringers should be located in the boat. Still pondering...
