272 and 25 outlaw, moldline

anyone know for sure if there are geometric differences in the lower surface of the hulls of these two boats. Initially, I suspect that the 25 is just a 27 without the swimdeck when comparing the surfaces that touch the water.

Good question. I have heard the 25' is actually bigger than the 27'

Take a look at the cockpits. The 27 has A LOT more room in it. the 25 Outlaw rear bench is practically on top of the bolsters where the 272/275 has plenty of room. I still however prefer the looks of the 25 Outlaw. I think the 25 is a bit more narrow as well. I'm not sure about the hull but I would suspect some differences.

They are NOT the same hull. As highmark mentioned, there are obvious differences inside and you can definately tell that they are not the same outside when they are side-by-side.

The 25OL is actually a slightly bigger boat.

I've often wondered the same about a 29 OL vs. 302. With equal power a 29 seems to be a bit faster but I've always attributed that to weight.

You are right. We tied up to a 25 this weekend. The 25 has a higher free board about 3" and is a longer boat.

OK, but what about the running surface? If you took a contour board at the transom for both, then every 5 feet forward. That is what I am wondering about. Especially, at the bow, where the lower surface profile transistions from a line to the curve up to the tip. Also, what about chines and strakes, same??

I just notice that the 272 line of boats is very suseptible to roll as it hits waves. I can almost identify this boat from far away by the movement on the chop.

I agree with you. They ride really high and do seem to "roll".
