Default 2002 252 Islander speed question

Does anyone know what kind of speeds I can expect for this boat with 502 built to 500 HP?

This winter I'm going to have a 502 built.

Thanks

Russ

Faster on the Ocean.
We just got one and its a kick arse ride.
If you meet up with the mercury guys they can change the chip in your computer...

with 2 people on board... 70-73 with several people 60-65

thanks

Just curious....What year and which engine do you have? I have a 2002 252 Islander with the 496 (non-HO) but it seems to run a little rich. I'm wondering if a chip would help.

Factory issue.
The chip can be adjusted... The Mercury guys at the races offered to program it for us for a small fee. Usually a few hundred bucks.
If they tweak it you will get a little more speed out of your boat.

I use the front right cabin as a rest room for us girls. Its nice size and easily fits a porta pottie. WHen we are out working on the races, we spend 8 hours a day sitting on the ocean making sure noone wrecks.

I also read something about putting synthec in your boat... makes it go faster. Look through the forums... I was thinking of passing that on to mike myself.

If you get the bright white leather... just a word of advice. It does get dirty quick. We carry cleaner with us where ever we go... armor all makes it slick, so be careful. You come in off the boat wet and SLIPPPP!

It handles well... Ive notice that It can turn practically on a dime compared to our other boats. When we go out in groups, we always get a "man where can I get one of those."
On the ocean, we barely touch the water, mike loves going full throttle in tough chop. At one point, this year the nose was completly straight up and the prop was out of the water. I thought we were going to flip, but it handled it well. If I ever win the lottery, I htink Jillie wiill buy him a supercat and let him race. Thats his calling in life.

THe bottom is nicely crafted. Ive noticed that it has a smoother ride than many other boats, the over all design is a stream lined beauty. Its made for someone that wants to go fast and impress the ladies... Its a gorgeous boat that is reasonably priced.

We have the clarion stereo in ours. Theres so many speakers I lost count. I love the feature thatyou can be in the water and contol the stereo from the water.

ITs pretty good on gas... one whole day at full throttle is around 70.00.

and thats not even a full tank.

I will let mike know you want more details, and he will give you more specific information....

Enjoy!

Jill

I have a 252 with 330hp and a labbed 23p mirage plus prop. I gps at 64.8. I have a 502 short block I would like to put in it. What size cam and what compression ratio does a 500 efi have in it?

What RPM range are you running at?
I have a 6.2 in it now running 58 at 5000 RPM. The prop is a 19P, (to small) but I lived with it because I new I was swapping motors anyway.
My motor should be done in about 6 weeks hopefully.

I hope the 500 Horse Power will wake up the boat!

I run at 4600 rpm right now. Was at 4800 rpm before I had the prop labbed. I gained 6 mph with the lab job. What cam are you using and what is your compression ratio, also any head work done?
