Well I guess it was time for something to go wrong!
I've had that new SC 525 in my boat for a flawless 50 hours now with not as much as a hick-up. I pull the boat out today to go take it for a run, turn the key and theres nothing there. Doesn't turn over, no clicking, nothing! I think the starter got wet a couple of weeks ago while I was in Havasu. Soooo, now I need to slap a new starter in Oh well, I guess it could be alot worse!

Could there be a chance you blew the 90 amp fuse on the starter? Do you have power to things like the hatch and so forth? If you have power to those it won't be the 90 amp fuse.

Yea, I have power to every thing else. It did this once before. I didn't pull the drain plug and it rained. Enough water got in the bildge that it got the starter wet. After I drained the water out it did the same thing. Turn the key and nothing happens. I held the key in the start position for about a minute and all of a sudden it unfroze. That was the only time I ever had a prob at all. When we were at havasu everyone was getting in and out of the water and the bildge filled up with water quick. sooooo, I think it's the same thing. I would guess a bit of water gets on the starter and it freezes it. Oh well. I need to have it serviced anyway so I'll just have them fix it while it's there.

Yup, I been there to. Those motors sit so low in that boat, doesn't take much to get that starter wet. If you take a starter apart, it is a series of springs, plates and magnets. Very easy to see why they freeze up if they take a little bath.
NO biggie Tank, just slap a new one in there. If you wanna do it your self, you are only talking about 2 thru bolts and 2 wire posts.....but, ofcourse, that is after you pull the riser and manifold....Hahahahaha
I'd do it for ya if you weren't 3,500 miles away

Not to be a smart-azz, but I have to ask: Do you have a working bilge pump? Or did it simply get overwhelmed?
Dead starters suck!

Allan,
Thanks for the offer bro. But I'm going to take it to my mechanic next week. I need to have it serviced anyway.
B.D.,
You!? A smart azz??!! NEVER!!
Actually, thats a good question. I had the auto on/off lifter thingy taken off the bildge because (as they tend to do) it stuck on and burned the bildge pump. So I have to turn it on/off manually. Better to have it when you need it though than not have it

I know, I know... Never, not me!
Thanks. That'll explain it. Those float switches are amazing aren't they...I haven't know one to work the way it should for very long. The one on my Hammer would always stick. On the 25, so far so good...fingers crossed, because I sure as hell can't reach down there.

Daze, the positionaling on the bilge pump for the 24 is ridiculous...at least on mine. It is positioned so far up towards teh stringer that it won't kick on automatically unless there is water up to almost the oil pan....not all the way up , but close.
Tank, you had a TON of water in that thing..>!!!!
I know...I been there to. I had an exh leak with the old Captains Call system and did ont catch it until we put it on the trailer and I drained about 100 gallons (no kidding) of water out of it. THought it felt awefully heavy!!.. But I had a full load of people with the old motor so I thought it was just a pig with all the people wieght!!!

Allan,
Thats exactly where my bildge pump is located too. Really not a smart position for Baja to put it in. It doesn't start pumping until theres a butt load of water in there.
I had 11 people on my boat in Havasu. Everyone getting in and out of the water. I finally checked to see if it would pump some out and it dumped like the frickin chiller!! Don't even worry about me racing some cat with the 11 people on my boat and still kicking ass! A Hammer was trying to keep up too but couldn't quiet get up to me until I slowed down to turn back....Good weekend except for gettin the starter wet
