When I was down at the factory talking to them about my hull problems they had the 30 ol there. They said that they purposly made it a much heavier boat. They said it weighed more than the 33 ol and that the production boat will be around 400 -600 lbs lighter than the 29ol. It will be fast don't worry.

PS. I was on a 2002 31sonic ss this weekend it had 470hp 502's and the boat only hit 73!!! What a dog for 180 k. It pounded the waves but it was slow and sucked fuel like no other.

I'm not surprised that the made the first demo 30 really heavy since they knew it would have to withstand being dragged all over while making the demo circuit.

Are you saying the 31 Sonic had 500HP's and only ran 73mph?

Finally got my issue.

On the cover: "Baja banks on big demand for it's new 30 Outlaw".

Translated: "Baja banks on people paying big bucks for it's new 30 Outlaw".

well so far I like my 29OL it has been a great boat, bet the 30 will be out of sight on the price, hope they get some more speed out of the 30, my 29 will run 72 to 73, and outlaw 29's boat is running close to 80, all the hype on the 30 might be smoke and mirrors

You are correct Sir!!!

My boat is running close to 80 (79.3gps). I would love to have 2 of Whipple’s “Stage 2” engine upgrades (Reprogrammed ECU, K&N flame arrestor, 140 T-Stat). Whipple claims a 35-40hp gain on a 496HO with their “Stage 2”. That would easily put me at 80+. Each upgrade is only $1,000 per engine. I could easily afford the $2,000 cost of the engine upgrades but I could not afford the cost of the engine upgrades combined with the additional cost of upgrading to labbed 29” props.

As far as the 30 Outlaw - there are only two scenarios that would cause me to upgrade to a 30 Outlaw:

1 – The 30 Outlaw will run 5-6 mph faster than an equally powered 29 Outlaw as claimed early on. That would require 84-85mph with twin HO’s.
2 – A person can buy a 30 Outlaw with twin 496HO for less than $100,000 as claimed by TBM.

if I can buy a 30 with 496ho's for around 100k I would buy one today if they get the speed out of it, until then i'm happy with my boat, hey 29outlaw there is no way I would sell your boat to get a 30, you are running the #'s, enjoy it

That less than 100,000 part I hope is true but seriously doubt it, you'd be hard pressed to find a 29 for that with Ho's, and I doubt if they'll go backwards when they are improving the 29, and the 29 was a great seller, I bet there were 10 or 12 -29's at the last run we did including me, we ran 74-75 with 4 people and fuel, the ho's could have passed us, but they all back off in the rough, I love the 29 its a fun boat
