Making my Outlaw 20 go faster / New Avatar
Okay, because I no longer have a "regular, full time" job and am starting my own business, I have decided to keep my boat instead of upgrading to a larger one. I'll upgrade in a couple years instead.
So now I need to get my boat up to at least 70. I'm boucing off 65 (speedo) now with a 21 @ 5100 RPM. My warranty is almost up so time to do some mods for next season. I'm thinking bolt ons to start with, maybe MSD ignition, K&N and headers. I have a bone stock 5.0 MPI now. I also have a fresh built 350 hot rod motor (for my 32 Ford). It is a '69 327 with steel 350 crank, Pink rods, TRW 12:1, Chet Herburt 901 roller cam, Crane roller rockers, etc pushing 400+ HP. I thought about swapping this motor into the boat. I would like to keep the MPI but it may not be enough cfms for this motor. Could I use larger injectors? Would the computer compensate? Or would a procharger be a better way to go?
I can't go too radical as the boat has an Alpha drive and can't handle much over 400HP.

with a small block and a light boat such as yours that alpha will be ok to use, but that hot rod engine will work great for the street might give you some problems on the water, 12 to 1 comp. is a little high for a pleasure boat, also that cam might have to much overlap for wet exhaust, good luck on your upgrade's
