Question Anchor ?? for 25 Outlaw Owners

Getting my new ride organized and I'm trying to decide where to store the anchor. No dedicated storage for it in the engine compartment like there was on my Islander. I'm open to suggestions or ideas on where to put the darn thing.

Buy the box anchor, it comes with a nice storage/carry bag. Put it in the side compartment of the cockpit behind the bolster seats.

That is where we keep ours and it works out great.

You can also keep it under the back seat.

Dock,

I looked at the website for the Box Anchor and they said you do not need to use a chain. Has that been your experience? Typical anchoring for me in the past has been in a sandy bottom and I've always used a chain to make sure the anchor set.

I like the idea this folds down for easy storeage. Thanks for the tip.

I got a nice anchor bag from top knot, and went under the back seat!, it really doesn't take up any real space, & there is so much storage space in the cabin. leave the anchor and all the mud that comes with it, in the washable area!..good Luck post pics! I have an 03 .any questions?

GatorDave,
I'm surprised there is no place in the engine compartment. I have a nice closed off area on the port side in the front of the engine compartment. If you don't have one, it would be easy to close this off with a piece of bent aluminum or plastic and a few angle brackets. It's a bit tight under the seat, not to mention the havock that the anchor will cause to the speakers, wiring, amp, etc. under there.

Daze,

I've got the same concern with using the back seat for anchor storage. To many breakable's under there. I like the idea of the Box anchor being foldable. Just curious as to it's holding power without a chain.

No designated storage in the engine compartment at all. I may have to look at creating some kind of storage area there.

Thanks for the info. guys.

Gator,

If you go with the box anchor, you will never use anything else!

Yes, there is "NO" chain needed. I have used it two seasons now on the 36 and it is the best anchor I have ever found.

Just drop it over, let out some line and you are there!

I have had five other boats rafted off of me and had no problems.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback Dock. I'm going to order one and give it a try. It's tough having to buy new boat stuff for the new boat I hope the wife understands...
