I think Steelware is getting a little closer to 77-78. He's running a larger pulley for more reliability on the motor. If he switched over to the smaller pulley he'd pick up a few more ponies!

BTW: Cool name!

You can also go with the supercharger option. I am suprised to hear that the whipple on that motor is only running 75. I ran with a guy at the lake cumberland poker run that had the same boat and motor as mine with a procharger on it and was running 82 on the GPS. I don't know how many pounds of boost he was running (they make 3.5 and 5 lb kits) I know just enough about both the whipple and procharger to be dangerous!!
Hope some of this helps.

Blue,
That sounds more realistic. I was always told that whipples ran as good, if not better than the prochargers. He has got a sweet looking boat!

25 outlaw with stock 502 will NOT hit 70 in fresh ( Hudson ) water.. 66-67, been on two, 496 H.O. will be slightly faster, 68 ?? labbed prop possbily 70 with low fuel and 1 or 2 people, very nice boats for the money, was looking at 2000's and 2001's a year ago that were selling in the low 40's.

blewbyyou, one question for you. the ram in your pic. is that a 1500 with a 4.7. if so how does that pull the boat. i have the same truck and want to know how she pulls. and chris288 i think you made a good choice in your boat. your boat was really nice. is that a gps on the passenger side.

yesrej,
No, my truck is a 2004 2500 with the cummins deisel. I had a 2002 with the 5.7 that pulled the boat but the deisel does a whole lot better!

blewbyyou, the outlaw weights 4750 dry so i dont think i will have a problem towing but i just wanted to know.

btw, your boat is awesome. that is a really good pic. some pics of the outlaw make it look small but yours shows true size.

Thanks! I think you will be very very pleased with an Outlaw if you go that route. The only thing I wished they would have added would be an anchor compartment/storage on the bow of the boat. The new 30 OL has it. Just my opinion

Jim,

Look at the true wave crushers, they do NOT have an anchor locker at the bow.

The way you fly the 25 you really do not want an anchor bouncing around up there! It could do damage, but God forbid it come out and hit you in the face.

I was surprised when the 36 did not have an anchor locker. Now I know why and I don't even miss it. We keep our box anchor in the side compartment behind the bolster, throw it over the side and walk the line to the bow. Very easy, actually MUCH easier than handling one out on the bow.

Just for what it is worth.

Doc

P.S. The 25 is a very nice boat. I have had three Baja's, the 212 Islander, the 272 Cuddy and now the 36 Outlaw. Baja builds a good boat. I found the 212 to be VERY easy to sell. We got within $1000 of what we paid new. I lost about $5000 on the 272 after two seasons with 150 hours, but the second guy that looked at it bought it. There are some nice ones on the market including Baja Daze and Steelware's boats.
