I have a 1999 36 Outlaw with 3" shorter Imco Extreme SC drives. I put a 1/2" spacer in to bring the total raising to 2 1/2". I am running Land and Sea Stern Jacks (8" set back) and I have 750 hp engines. Although I am not running 500 HP's, raising the drive height really helped. In order to take andvantage of the new drive height I did have to go to a six blade prop. I am running Herring's but you could go with the Merc. five blade or a Herring. With the 500's you probably don't need a six blade. The reason you need a five or six blade is to both reduce the slippage due to the prop being much higher out of the water and to carry the bow of the boat. As you know with our boats you have to run a lot of trim to carry the nose. When you shorten the drive, you loose some of the trim angle and your ability to get the nose up. The six blade Herring's really carry the nose nice. I was running lab finished Merc. 4 blade 30 pitch props. The six blades are a 28 pitch. I gained about 8 mile an hour when I had everything dialed in. Best speed to date is 95 GPS and 96 speedo in a two foot chop. If the water is smooth I run about 92. Good luck.

We tried on a 2001 33 outlaw, with 500 efis and gained 6 mph but could not keep drives together and was very hard to get on plane with labbed 30's running 81 at around 5,000

I have a 1987 320 force that I raised my X 3" I run Labbed Bravo1 props 25 Pitch. Boat does 72 mph with stock 454 Magnums ( 365hp ). So far no problems with my drives. I do think that I could gain somemore by notching the transom or adding extension boxes.

My opinion go for it I think your boat will run a ton better!!!!!!!!!!
