Post Baja at Chicago Boat Show...a 40 Outlaw!? UPDATE

Heard GSC might have a 40 Outlaw at this years show!
The 40 by far is BADASS!!!
No sissy steps...a total rough water beast.
Saw the options list but it only topped out with the 575SCi package!?
I know it can handle much more power than that!
I would love to have one in the staggered setup with SSM drives on boxes...and my power.
Sounds kinda funny going from a 42 Fountain to a 40 Baja but steps are not for me and rough water is!
See ya at the show Baja!

Mark

UPDATE***
The 40 will be at the show!
20K custom paint
Twin Merc575's with XR's
Also has the new transom boxes from Merc
Suppose to be show specialed in the $270's
Thats a lot of BEAST for the $$$, looks like i might have to butter up to the wife a bit!

I know what you mean, Back4More! The 40 is definately one bad-ass Offshore boat. It's also one of the coolest looking boats out there. It's nice to see praise coming from a Fountain owner. There's a few around here locally, though not many. They look AWESOME crushing waves.

I know what you mean about the power, too. The boat can and will handle a lot more with ease. As a matter of fact, I just pulled out my catalogs and in 2000, Baja did offer up to the 900's in the 40's. I wonder why they stopped.

I got to say this. Many of my friends have fountains and one of them is even a dealer. He tried hard to get me into a 29 with a 500hp. but it just wasnt as nice as the 29 Baja. MUCH MORE boat for the same price and the QUALITY IS JUST AS GOOD !! Baja had a few down years that really hurt there rep. But ill put mine up to any boat in its class for quality and workmanship and rigging. Im not talking about the custom boats out there ,but the production boats that us commen folk can afford

I heard BAJA built a 40 outlaw for the owner of full tilt marine with a pair of 900sc's. I heard the ehing ran arund 105mph after all the testing they done to dial it in. The motors can out of an old sonic and had almost 80 hours on them. Sure would like to see one with fresh motors. Awsome big water boat.

My first two boats were Bajas!
Hard to beat the Performance per dollar ratio out of a Baja.
Bought a 32 Magnum with carb'd 502's known as the Outlaw later on and then a 272 with a 502MPI when we bought our home.
Beat the **** out of them...they where fun!

Still would have liked to see that boat with a staggered twin setup.

The 2005 poker run boat ( spotlight) had staggered 850sci's

The day I rode it 85 is about all it would do,
although 89 was in the smartcraft memory
from earlier in the day when it was low on fuel.

Split decision, with side-by side 700's is running
between 85 and 90, granted it has a notch and
pad bottom, but it's lacking 300 hp.

Staggered's work wonderful in stepped applications,
but in straight bottoms, they can shift the c.g forward
and reduce bow lift capabilities.

A buddy of mine just picked up this 40

Plus they had the drives way too deep! Ever see a #6 boat that did not throw a rooster tail?

Thank you well said. Some just don't understand that you have to carry the boa on a none stepped hull to reduce wetted surfacea dn a staggered set up moves the CG forward actually increasing wetted surface.

Nice boat I have seen it in the magazines and heard it had been for sale for some time. I hope he enjoys it!

It's a pretty sweet ride.

When he pulled up to us @ the OSS races @ LOTO
last month, the wife said "finally, someone has a boat
more obnoxious than yours"

He's got a 97' 38 Boss special 4 bolsters, built
up 525SC's that he needs to get rid of, if anyone
knows of anyone's looking.
