I have a 272 with a race fairing. I wanted to change the fairing to either black or red. I'm just not sure the best way to go about it. I have friends that do custom paint and also friends that lay down vinyl graphics. Both said they could probably do it but I'm a little leary of the end result and how long it will last and look good.

Any suggestions from members will be appreciated.

Did your boat come with the fairing or is it something you did after it was new? I want to get rid of my windshield and get a fairing for my boat but have always run into deadends on finding a company that sells one.A local fibreglass guy says hecould do something around 3500$ but it seemed a little pricey plus i'm concerned it might look un-professional,Smitty

My 1997 Boss 272 came from the factory with the race faring. I had one on my Hammer as well. I love the feeling of the wind in my face. Keep in mind that wind is in the 60 mph range, not 100 mph like some. That is toooooo much wind for me. Plus, I have always liked the look of the faring better than a windshield. The windshield also has a glare and I was always sitting on top of the seat to see over it.

From what I understand, the faring mounts to the same place as a full windshield. You could probably get on from Baja but I think you would spend a couple grand to do it.
