Banana Fun Run's 2005
I am hoping to have one get together per month this year.
Please chime in and let me know what you think. I have done Boston on the 4th for the last 11 years in a row. It is a great time.
June 10th-11th Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Offshore Power Boat races in Yarmouth are Sat and Sun.
Tour of the boat pits in the morning.
Afternoon Banana Race to Nantucket or Marthas Vineyard.
Race Back.
Overnight in Hyannis Harbor, plenty of bars with docks.
Banana Flotilla at anchor in Hyannis Harbor
Watch the races Sunday after brunch.
Free parking and boat launch.
4th of July Boston, Massachusetts
U.S.S. Constitution at 12:00 noon
U.S.S. Constitution has cannon battle with Fort Independence
Boat Parade through harbor.
Goerges Island for a picnic at 3:00 pm and Island exploration
Dinner at Legal Seafoods by boat at 6:00pm
Fireworks up the Charles River at 9:00pm
Free parking and boat launch downtown will be provided for all boats. Gated parking with security guard. Very safe.
August 27th and 28th Portsmouth, New Hampshire
"The Banana Boat 100"
2nd Annual "Non-sanctioned", "non-authorized", 'non-denominational" offshore power boat race.
This is a port to port race. 1st year is was Portland, Maine on Saturday and return on Sunday. Three boats entered, one boat broke, one said my boat won't make it, so I did it Solo and made 1/4 of the way and said F#ck it, let's just drink beer.
$25 for parking and boat launch, but provides fresh running water and pump out services.
September 10th Lake Winnipesauke
We let Adam plan this one since it is his neighborhood.
The plan will be to smash into as many Baja's as we can.
$25 parking and boat launch. Recommend you purchase a lake chart when you arrive.

Okay, Okay, let's not rip on fellow power boaters...
I take back the Baja comment.
My old boss, and close friend has a 1999 30' Baja on lake Winni and I guess I was hoping he would see this thread start a healthy thread fight....
Anyway, back to the event schedule, does anyone see problems with my ideas?
Anyone? Anyone?
Bueler?
Anyone?

Nice program you have planned. May I offer a suggestion based on experience. Once upon a time, a certain boatbuilder in RI wanted to hold a "race" on Narragansett Bay.
After much conversation with the local sheriff and the Coast Guard about all the reasons why such a thing could not happen, he discovered that by bringing a bunch of friends together at the same time, they could "cruise" over the same course that he had in mind.
Yes. there were some wild fellows that showed up that day and actually drove the entire "cruise" at full throttle. There were even trophies given out that say things like"first overall narragansett bay cruise[I]"
So, think about your wording of your invitation. Actual sanctioned races can come later once all your friends discover how much fun high speed "cruising" really is.
My son and I have been at Amelia Island with one of our old race cars. Now that it is over, we can get back to work on other things. He should be posting some interesting pics in a couple of days.
Keep us posted on your idea, I think it is great.

Update
1st Amendment to the Banana Fun Run 2005 event schedule:
August 27th-28th....
1st annual Offshore Power Boat....."Cruize"...
We will name the "cruize" after the first make and model boat that wishes to enter.
We will also name it after the mileage involved from one port to the other.
After the "CRUIZE" is over, I will give out the names and perhaps even some memorabilia from the trip...

Brother Tripps,
Never wanted to double book, but this was the reason I could not come to your event in the first place.
Once I heard about the races on Cape Cod, I knew I had to be there. From what I learned, they are holding the races in Massachusettes in hopes that the Banana Boaters show up?
I feel obligated to oblige...

Re: Banana Fun Run's 2005
I can't wait to bolt it on. It has been snowing a lot lately so I just go down in the garage and stare at it...
Only problem is I have no idea what to run for a prop.
I am guessing a 26p chopper.
What did you run on yours?
I am putting a porta-jack (hydraulic jack / bracket) inbetween the V8 and my transom. Not sure how much set back that will give it?
