"spoiled banana"

Hi there,
I'm the new owner of "spoiled banana". I purchased it last week from a nice guy out of NC, the boat is now in Canada and I'm running it on a very large fresh water lake. It's got two newer 200 mercs (stock) and I'm running 26 choppers. It does not have low water pick ups so I'm having to run the motors fairly low on the jack plates so I don't burn them up. Can anyone suggest a good setup for my package besides low water pick ups.
Very fun boat to drive, had it out in some nice rollers the other day and was getting some good air...the boat just feels so solid and predictable.
I've found some history on the boat through the forums, if anyone knows anything about this boat's history beyond what's in the forums I'd love to hear it.
Thanks,
Mbadger

There are a lot of mods that can be done to the 200's, but I would leave it stock for now if its getting good speeds, the life expectancy of the motors is greatly shortened once ya go inside them. Simple stuff like carbon fiber reeds etc. wouldnt hurt though.

Hello MBadger,

Welcome to the Banana board.

I owned your boat before Gregg Little in NC. Yes he is a great guy and did a nice restoration.

That boat has quite a history in racing.

MrV8outboard was the original owner and had it custom built. He won the Highpoint, National and World championship in 1993.

Don't go messing with those engines. Leave them stock and just spend some money to solve your water pressure problem.

Nose cones for sure will give you a few mph and you can get them done with low water pick ups.

Also consider that your boat orignally had a low water pick up that was attached to the lowest point of the hull. That worked well also.

Gregg told me the last time he took it out he was hitting low 70's and it still had some more in it.

Jacking the engines up a bit will put you over 75mph.

Here are some pics of both my Banana's side by side.

The jack plate on the white one came off of "Spoiled Banana".

The trailer under the white boat is the one you have now. I had just bought it.

The last pic is what you should do to your cockpit to make it larger. Took me all of a day to do.

All you need is a lot of beer and a sawzall.
