Pat,
If you are willing to consider non-traditional options there are many many choices from the West Coast also. It depends on what your needs are. When you say Donzi and Cig, you are talking non pad V's. Also, do you want mild or wild colors? Many options out there right now in the < 23' range and especially if you only want I/O power.

Pat either look for an olderr 20ft Sutphen or the new ones are amazing. They are just of every bit nice as any 20ft Cigarette and run extremely well. Go for a ride in the Blue 21 and you'll be amazed!!

I think well see the return of the classic 18-21ft boat in these new a and different economic times. Worked fine for your Dad/Uncle for a loong time.

Ive been to Catalina from Long beach/del Rey in 21ft boats a hundred times easily in 20 years on regular days no problem.

Easy on the wallet, tow vehicle, space, and surprisingly competent and fun when built correctly. Yeah there's no big money in em, but there is money.

Pat, as we all know Howard builds a quality boat and you simply do not see many Offshore 23's around. That CalCool has big power in it and wild graphics. Give us a few more parameters Pat in a smaller hot rod and we'll hook you up with options!

Would you really go down to 16', I tend to doubt it. Lets say that the minimum is 18' and max is 23'. How much power do you want in the I/O package or is the "look" more important?

How about a super rare DCB 22 Extreme? This one was built 18 degrees with a pad, closed transom and closed bow plus jumper seats under the bow for the little ones if the weather kicks up. Not the wave crusher of the Howard or CalCool but super fast and easy on the fuel.

Sorry, I forgot I/O onlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!

Dan, I don't like the older 20' Sut and a new one is too much $$.
My budget will be the $$ I get if/when I sell my Velocity. We've talked about owning two boats and it really does not make sence for us.
Yes, a 16' Donzi would be too small and the 18' would also be on the small side.
An 18-22 foot old school V bottom that can handle some rough water, as well as pull a skier now and then, is what I'll be looking for. I/O for sure, small or big block does not matter.
