I think the fear of a case of slander is why real names and details are being held back. Or fear of a visit late in the night from a guy named Guido....

Its much easier to post names once someones had cuff on their wrists....

Remember...15 boats is what we or the police know about. My guess is that there is more to it. It just can't be proven. Or other people were used as "off-loaders" or "fences".

Just like anything else, crime is the same way. The money is made over the long term. There is considerable risk but, there is considerable reward. 5 boats a year at $25K CASH is $125K CASH MONEY. No Uncle Sam involvement. Its the lure of easy money. If you are funding a race boat or have serious habits this extra cash or hardware can come in handy.

If anyone thinks that this was going unnoticed by the insurers is mistaken.
You'll find that the insurance industry advanced this investigation more than law enforcement.

The effects on everyone on here re insurance costs will be fealt for a while.
How would you like to finance a boat for the family and have it confiscated for a couple of seasons as evidence ??

Kind of difficult to winterize your new toy while its collecting dust in a police compound somewhere.
Also very difficult to explain to your bank and insurance company.

I dont know but I suspect your insurance doesnt cover the loss of your boat if you are the victim of purchasing and insuring what turns out to be a stolen boat that is taken away as evidence.

Who wants to know ??

Everybody should want to know.

How would anyone like to buy anything from whomever is involved and have the police come along and confiscate it as evidence?

Its not getting involved in a chainsaw fight, its self preservation for those that are spending their hard earned money with a group that are screwin them up.

The politically correct answer is to wait the 3 years before an official answer comes out of the courts but in the meantime sponsors and people doing business within this mess might like a heads up re who they are supporting and or buying goods and services from.

You'd feel kind of stupid if you had a major job being done by a shop involved in all of this if when you went to pick up your boat/engine and find the doors closed because they had to close because of all this crap.

Put yourself in the shoes of the guy who has a boat that enjoys it by going down to the impound yard taking pictures of it through a chainlink fence.

Call Markel and tell them you want to insure a gofast boat and see what reaction you get.

Its a mess that hurts all the boaters that just want to use their investment with their family and friends.

Can u even imagine how many boats are now in some way sporting something from these boats. 15 known hot boats, say atleast "100" items stripped and sold from each. This being an extremely loose case in point but that's theoretically/possibly 1500 boats that could be inpounded as potential evidence. Could be any of our boats, and if my boat was sitting out in the elements at an inpound yard all cause some dillrod was too lazy to make an honest living like most of us id be violent.
