BT towing info

I'm looking to buy a BT by the next boating season and I was wondering what is a good tow vehicle for pulling a BT? I was thinking an Excursion /Power Stroke? Is that Ok and safe or I'm I not even close on what should be used to pull one of these. We will be taking it on trips to WindyCityPR, LakeCumberlandPR,SmokeOnWaterPR and LOTO just to name a few places we plan on going too. The actual boat (want 43 SC w/twins) is not yet determined still shopping and want to make sure I have the right tow rig first before the boat.
Any and all comments will be appreciated.

Re: BT towing info

I pull a 46 triple with a 4x4 3/4 Suburban w/8.1L gas. 9Yes, I know it's over the rated capacity). I set the trailer up with load equalizer bars and electric brakes. I pull the boat mainly in Michigan. It pulls just fine, and has plenty of stopping power. We run about 63 on the highway. Pulling out at the ramp is no problem either, just put it in 4 low and it idles out.

Re: BT towing info

Make sure to get an aluminum trailer for weight savings. Also get electric over hydraulic disc brakes on all three axles. I tow mine with a '97 Chevy 2WD crew cab dually with a 454/auto trans. It is all the load it wants. I am going to buy a 4500 GMC this winter. My boat weighs 14000 lbs on the trailer with 1/2 load of fuel. We currently run 65 to 75 on the Interstate. Some big hills will really drag it down. Joe Murray

Good question. I also am considering a 43 BT - SC. Probably won't buy for a year or so but was planning on pulling it with my Excursion Powerstroke. I currently pull a 38' Powerquest with no problem but would like to hear if any current BT owners are using the Excursion.

What motors are you looking for in the BT?

Glad to see you joined Bruce. Good to meet you at the factory on thursday.

As far as towing, i pulled my 43 tall deck to the factory with my 08 3500 GMC dually and ran at least 75 with No problems. Brought home a 43 flatdeck and no issues either. The flatdeck was normally pulled by a 3/4 ton surbuban with a 8.1 and he has no issues. Many trips to florida. It not that a light truck cant pull it, its stability and stopping. Hope this helps.
