I wear it before I leave the slip and if I am alone I also wear a life jacket before I get on plane.
I guess that is what age and a family has me doing now.

Always, Friend And Brother And Dad Were Thrown From A Boat On The River After Striking Log, Debris, Etc And Caused Boat To Remain Running In A Circular Pattern With The 3 In The Middle. Treaded Water Until No Longer Could Hold Dad Up And He Did Drown. Two Brothers Survived Barely. One Simple Clip To The Jacket Would Have Saved A Lot Of Misery.

family boating with 3 kids so always going slow (30-35 mph), but if we go faster or without kids jumping waves, always hooked even if some guest find it useless... I've learned from my Sea-Doo time...

Re: Do you always wear your kill switch lanyard?
I lost a good friend a couple years ago due to no kill switch. He was only running about 30 mph in a bass boat, standing up. The guy that was with him, said his cell phone fell, when he reached down to pick it up, his belly hit the steering wheel (he was a big guy), and made the boat turn sharpley, tossing them both out. The boat kept running. The other boaters were concerned with the runaway boat. The other guy in the boat said he saw my buddy treading water for a while, then he just slipped under the water. All the attention was on the boat. The other passenger had the boat come back and as I recall, he lost an arm. That's what I think about when I think of safety all the time. Yesterday, when we were out in the boat, we didn't have the lifejackets on, so I wouldn't test how fast it would go. Anything over 40, I want a jacket on too.

I wear mine most of the time...always in rough water or running at all hard...should wear it all the time as I have been tossed before.
I had local canvas guy make me a belt like a life jacket belt that snaps on with a D ring that stays hooked to the lanyards.
It's great...I reccomend it for everyone.

I wear mine most of the time in the Donzi Classics if we're running (over 30-40 mph). It's very easy to get through about in those. I'll admit I don't wear it very much in my Checkmate.
