Apparently you only registered to post that ignorant statement. However I can inform you that 90% of us on this board would have been there face to face if it had happened near any of us.

And by the way... if he was safety concious and wearing his lanyard none of us would be talking

Thankfully no one was killed. I hope those injured have a speedy and full recovery. Hopefully lessons are learned by those involved and mistakes made are not repeated in the future. That is all you can ask for at this point.

Yes, you are lucky to be alive.

But your level of posting intelligence says a bit too much.

Before you posted this, we were all talking sht. Now, thanks to your confirmation, we're tellin' it like it is.

It's unfortunate that the incident happened and it sucks that the driver (you?) of the Baja lost control. But it sucks even more that due to the lack of the lanyard being worn, not only did you guys get injured and the Baja got wrecked, but the poor bastard on land lost his boat and dock too - and there could been more potential injuries (or worse) had they been on the dock.
Think about that for a while.

Time to stop ragging this one and learn from it! Wear your laynards, install some lapbelts, grab handles, and be aware alert at all times! Be prepaired for the unexpected and never lose focus on your and your passenger's saftey!

This accident has NOTHING to do with anything or anyone else. It is solely about a driver/captain operating a boat at speed without using a safety device. A device that very well could of prevented this accident all together, period. His choice to NOT use this simple safety device has nothing to do with any other driver/captain from using or not using any safety device.

This incident is what bothers me when I boat. Having a fellow boater who ignores using safety equipment that could possibily (evidenced by this accident) prevent me and/or my passengers injury. Unless you boat alone on a lake, we all must respect each other fellow boaters, your and their safety included.

And yes, I use both safety lanyard-kill switches and safety vests. Why, because it is for both the safety of myself, passengers and fellow boaters. A small price to pay for a safe and enjoyable day of boating, and insuring another day of the same.

Even with my lowly 22' Stingray, I've picked up some good tips on this forum. Wearing the lanyard is one of them. The thought of being ejected while my kids are scared to death as the boat goes on makes the lanyard more front and center in my mind.

I've also come across some scary footage now and then that makes me a bit more cautious out there.

Eliminator Boats
There is a answer to the lanyard

A wireless lanyard for all on board

This is a great safety for everyone on board including your dog

Please take a moment to look over it

Defense: Virtual Lifeline XL helps prevent injuries and fatalities associated with falling over board. With Virtual Lifeline XL installed, the operator and all passengers onboard can are equally protected when everyone wears a sensor.

How it works: Upon submersion, the sensor immediately activates—sending a signal to the onboard control module, which sounds an alarm and shuts off the motor. XL’s Rescue Mode allows restarting of the engine to recover the person in the water. Once out of the water, simply shake excess water from the sensor, restart the motor and turn off Rescue Mode to reactivate the safety features of VL-XL. Sensors are small, durable, reusable and are easily worn.

We sell a lot of these up here in Canada for all types of boats and have one on our 90 mph boat

I do recommend that the driver still wears the lanyard also.

This has saved many life's already , we can save many more.
