Thanks. What is the dry weight of a 253 with a BB? 4200-4300? Sounds like the 8' beam slows them down a little?

Only two people in this forum have/had a 253? Anyone else out there?

I have a 94 253. It goes 59 mph
No boat, why are you looking for speeds for the 253?
If you do a search you can find a lot of different speeds listed. Before I bought mine, I rode in a few Bajas and Checkmates to compare. I thought both had benefits and ended up with the check.
The 253 hull will go 80mph with the right power combo, and still be driveable.
So i've heard
I think there may be insurance company trolls running thru this site right now, so I don't think many people are posting how fast there boat is unless it's an obvious offshore go-fast.

I'm looking for speeds because I am looking at a 253 right now. I'm just trying to get an idea of what kind of power it takes to run certain speeds. If I get the boat I would like to make it run 80-85.

SO, I will post my question differently. Does anyone know what kind of power it would take to run a 253 at 80-85? I'm guessing about 650hp?

650 hp sounds right. But at those speeds you are pushing that hull beyond it's abilities. @ 78 mph, mine was a handfull!! It would get squirley very quick in sloppy water.

Interesting. Were you running K-planes? Full hydraulic steering?

Thanks
