It is a 468, steel crank and rods, balanced. JE pistons, Extreme Marine hydraulic roller cam, Brodix heads with Manley severe duty stainless valves. Jessel valvetrain and Dart intake. Built for marine use by Fingerlakes Machine. 590 ft.lbs torque; 602hp @ 5200 rpm.

(9) 1999 251's Convincor Classics were sold in Syracuse before the dealer went to jail for stealing and book juicing. I toured checkmate in 2004. They still build 251's on request. In fact the boat I owned is in the classifieds. The owner blew up the drive and put a new one on. It had the XZ with sportmaster shorty on it with the fat shaft upgrade, but it all depends on the driver.

Motor has dyno time only since build-up. I paid $6500 for it. Also have all other accessories to install in a mercruiser set-up.

I had 1991 251 Gtx,
Started out 454 365hp, and run it stock for years. Then we made it a 468 and head work and cam. Dyno runs made 545 hp. I always run mirage three blade props. 23,25. The 25 was labbed from mercury. It would run 70 all day long.
But my best freind had 1989 251 with a 540 that jimmy valako built. And he run a 27 labbed worked awesome. His motor made more power like 700hp, but his boat would run in the high 80 into 90 plus. Jimmy made my motor as well with help from ben. Give jim a call. Valako Race Heads in Grand Rapids, MI.
