checkmate maxxum 281
looking for setup help

ive got a 91 checkmate 28 ft maxxum. have 2 200 mercs with mild upgrades. 36 in set back including jack plates. have 15 in mids with low water pickup lowers. wondering what props, what height, what way to turn the props. any help would be great. getting tired of buying props and loosing money when they don't work and having to resell them

First thing I would do is go to a 20" mid on a 28' boat.

well, i bought a set of bravo one 24 pitch props. still no better. turning the props outwards and they slip just as bad as the last set. i am wondering if it has to do with the vents. maybe i should have bought a set of sterndrive props. i am running 3 3/4 inches under the hull. mercury says they are surface piercing props and ment for high drive height outboards.

Lower your motors, and try mirage plus, as for the vents, fill them up, til it wont plane, then step back 1 size.
