281 Maxxum w/2.5 EFI Offshores
Took delivery of the 281 Maxxum w/Merc 2.5 EFI Offshores. We had it out for the 1st time tonight. We didn't want to go WOT cause of the old fuel from over the winter was all we had to run on. Here are the #s so far. 4 adults on board, 1/4 tank of fuel, turning 14.5X24 Props @ 6800 Rpm 76to78 mph in dead calm water. I'm looking for low 80's. The engines are marked on the clamp bracket that they are rated to run @ 8000 RPM. These props are spinning at WOT 74-7500. I believe these are called Mercury's Lightning Lab Props. Not sure... Can't wait to open her up!!!!

Thanks Wild Willy! I just got the survey back along with some good pics. They rated it in "EXCELLENT" (BRISTOL) CONDITION I guess it doesn't get any better than that. I'm taking my 1st trip out next weekend for an overnight Poker Run in Atlantic City. Can't wait... Here are the pics......

281 Maxxum w Outdrives only
Hi - The Maxxum 281 caught my eye, as I just took delivery Thursday of the I/O version c/w two Bravo One (X, XR, don't know, yet - manuals on way). Same color. Go figure.
She came with two SS Mirage Plus 14.5 x 27", and I was told two 454's were taken out. They must have been brutes to push 27" p.
I bought my first Checkmate in 1974, and just had to replace the thermostat this year - it was stamped April '72.
The search for nirvana continues....
