Default Checkmates love the rough stuff

What a great boating weekend in VA. Low 90's both days and plenty of sun. Saturday was a classic cruising day with flat water, today was a little different. Hot but winds of 15 with gusts to 25. The little 229 was a blast, white caps and small rollers and that little boat ran right through it, not a rattle creak or flex. Cruised comfortablly at 50 while others were limping along.
Still can't wait to get A BIGGER ONE!!

Ya gotta love it. Checkmates really do work well in the nasty stuff. I love to run my Persuader in 2-3 footers and have been out when 4-5 footers were whipped up. All in a 21'9" boat! Lots of air time! Even did it in 6 footers once... and won't again. Wind was a steady 45 mph that day. But I did it and the Checkmate carried me through it all. Ran beside my buddy's 33 Outlaw and whenever I could look over at him and the guys onboard, they were pointing and shaking their heads. Even got to look down on them once. Sure wish I could run off shore!

Wow. No kidding. Grew up mainly in VA - Wash, DC area. Marine Corps took me to NAS Dallas. Live in Arlington. Boat on Joe Pool mostly, but Lewisville some. Eagle Mountain, Texoma, Possum Kingdom, Richland Chambers. Hoping to see Travis down in Austin later this summer.

When you all get back, we'll have to get together. I'd love a ride in you Convincor!

Scott, how do you like Richland Chambers? We are trying to come down there in July sometime to buy a lot or two on Richland Chambers. Maybe have a house built in a few years. We've been wondering if we could rent a boat so we could check out the lake from the water!!

Barry, sorry to barg in on your post!

Sorry, busting OT also.

Send me an email Eric. Scott

I talked to my buddy John who owns a lot down on the SE corner of the reservior asking if he minded telling you about the place. SE corner is nice and calm with a marina for gas right there. Prevailing south wind doesn't whip up the shoreline. Them northers get ya though. But hey! (now OT) Them north winds are great for these rough water Checkmates! Slick huh.

Eric,
I didn't know you were a Texan. If you go back you're gonna miss the bay and Atlantic.

I will definatly miss the Bay!! And all the great freinds we've met here.

But I'm not counting any chickens yet. Just have to wait and see how it goes.

For now, and as soon as I get this boat straight, Im ready to hit the bay!
