I'm thinking of installing a Whipple, it would be very helpful to know what speeds a blower is getting these boats.

Thanks

Have seen the boat very good looking boat. I really see no way that boat would hit 68 with that motor though. 26 with the same motor would be lucky to gps 68

I agree, 68mph is fast for this boat. But 58mph is way slow too!

My 270 runs 64, maybe touch 65 GPS w/a 25p 3 blade mirage.. However, I'd love to get my hands on a 4blade for a weekend!
On a side note, my tach has given me false readings on occasion. Just a suggestion

It could be that the speedo is slow,if the hole gets debris in it or if the line is kinked or pinched it would be low. They ran the boat in an area known for debris.

no way you will see another 10mph. I own the same boat and unless you have the notch, low 60's is about all you will see. Your talking about a 5300lb boat with a conventional vhull (non step). If you want pure speed and the best rough water single engine boat, go buy an Activator! My tired 454mag was giving me 56-58mph and with my new 610hp/575tq motor I'm seeing a solid 73-75mph all day long and 76-77mph in optimal conditions at 6,000rpm. You could try labbing the prop if you need another 100-200rpm. Another prop I would try that the boat likes better than the Bravo is the Mercury Revolution 4. It carries the bow higher like a 3 blade with 4 blade driveability. My boat loves that prop. With a light load and two people you should be seeing low 60's on GPS but thats it.....

btw - the comments on 80 with a 525.....not a chance! This boat needs 675hp to run 80. If it has the notch, a solid 73 with a 525.

Way too slow as compared to what? In reality you are still faster than 98 percent of the boats on the water, if you count them all. This is the problem with boat speed, it seems everyone lies....even the manufactures. So you have your sights set on a number that is not a reality based on what someone trying to sell boats told you, or others telling you how fast their boats are.

Boats have 2 speed numbers, everyday speed, and perfect condition speed. Dock talk for an honest guy is sometimes difficult. Last year my boat would run 88 all day every day stock, many would ask and that was the number I gave them, only to hear "that's all"....."my friend has a Baja that does 96" blah blah blah.

Not to upset you more, but it will be SLOWER when we get in the heat of the summer and you get it loaded with your "stuff" It is what it is, a fairly roomy 28 ft boat with a straight bottom and nice lines. The average 25ft ish stock boat is going to run with you WOT, don't let them tell you any different.

Looking back this would have been a great question to ask BEFORE you bought the boat. The fact that you were fooled into thinking this boat would run 68 shows me you are not ready to have a whipple bolted to a 496 and deal with the problems that inexperience will cause there. Your money would be better spent swapping the engine for a 525efi.

BTW, 100 hp from a 496 to a 525 on paper yes, on the dyno NO. Not to mention one thing that is rarely talked about but is even more important.....torque. The 525efi or 500efi will be a reliable set up that you can hold WOT all day long with relatively no worries, that will not be the case with a blown 496

How high are you trimming it up ? My boat likes the tabs up and outdrive over half on gauge . Mine is a ZT280 with a 548ci no blower and runs solid 78-79 all day with a labbed 4 blade 26p... i would put a pro charger on anyday over any other blower ... it doesnt look as cool but the air temps are .
