rope lights in cabin?

I was working on the hatch in the cabin of my 1984 26' Stinger when I noticed some wiring coming out around the edges of the silver insert in the ceiling of the cabin. I looked closer and noticed that there seems to be rope lighting trimming the silver insert. Of course, the lighting is not currently working. Does anybody else have these lights in their cabin? Were the lights original? Just curious. If they are original I might try to get them working again.

I do not believe the lights were original equip., I pulled the entire cabin out of my 88 to redo & no ropelights.

My '83 has 'em. They all work too. If yours are shot you might try a conversion van shop for replacements. They're still putting those things in vans. Mine give my cabin that definite late '70's early '80's retro look. I'm 99% sure they were there since new. Most of my boat has not been touched. About the only thing that appears to be unoriginal on mine is the swim platform and the dark blue paint on the outside. If you got pics, send me some. My email is bsaurber2@gmail.com .

Anybody have a picture with them lit up - need to see the "ambiance" in the cabin. Also, any idea where the wires are run to power them?
