Default Chris Craft Stinger 222 Project

Hi,

Time to start a thread about my project here in Sweden!

The boat is a 1986 Chris Craft Stinger 222, imported by 'Mange' on this forum. This is my first boat project, and it was supposed to be a rather "light" project, since i wanted to use it this summer. But as we say; **** Happens... Mange has been really supportive during this project.

The boat turned out to bee complely rotten in the transom and stringers. So the "light" project turned into a "massive" project. But from the bright side of it, i'm going to have a one of the nicer 222 Stinger out there. I hope...

Some specs of the driveline:

Stock: Merc 260/Alpha1
Now: 2003 Chevy 350,Edelbrock Performer, Crane Cam/Alpha1

Things that will happen with the boat during the project:

*New transom -Done! 51mm thick
*New stringers -Done! Beefier supports than stock
*New paint
*New cockpit

Below are some pictures of the project:

Picture of the boat in my workshop

How it looked like before....

Really Hot! ...err..NOT

Red gelcoat and a few layers of paint. Does someone have a suggestion on witch colour to pick for it?

Oups! Here the project changed from "light" to "massive"

No wonder why the stringers where cracked, must have flexed a bit...

Started to cut away all the bad stuff.

Away with all the bad stuff!

"Molds" for the new transom

New gelcoat from the inside

Starting to glass, The outer liminate is 10mm

3x12mm birch plywood with 1x300gr glass between each. Then i put some filler in all the corners to make a smooth radius for the glass mat.
