Fastest 20' Cigarette
I'm thinking of a 20' Cigarette project. How much power can they handle. What speeds can be achieved with 850 hp or so?
Do they have any weird handling traits at speed?
Thanks,
Kurt

Re: Fastest 20' Cigarette
I know they run beautiful to 65 mph. You would be breaking new ground with 850 hp. I guess a Konrad drive will be in the equation. Sounds like a fun project!

Re: Fastest 20' Cigarette
Yes, it would be rigged with a Konrad 540
I've seen many rigged from the factory with a TRS/MercTrans. Is there enough room in the engine compartment for a B/W 72C transmission?

Re: Fastest 20' Cigarette
A 71 C Will just barely fit according to Mike Baldwin His Boat has a 540CU/71c TRS Combination.I would think that in order to overcome all of the parasitic drag caused by the transmission ,that you would want to have at least 1000 hp on tap.Toms boat has a 700 Hp Ritchie Zul power-plant and it is Bad-ass!I could tell that boat was coming just by the sound. P.S. Make sure that your life insurance is paid up
Here is a picture of mikes boat

Re: Fastest 20' Cigarette
There used to be one in Edgewater MD back in the 80's that was called INVICTUS that as I recall was a 80 plus mph boat and was pretty out of control......GOOD LUCK!!!!!
