Mistress and cafe hulls
I have read time and time again that the 35 mistress was Don's favorite handling hull. How much difference is there between the mistress and the cafe? Is cg different?
I like the looks of both and really appreciate the ride in the mistress -- very solid-- Just thinking that a cafe is a little deeper and might make the right 'project' .

my mistress is so solid its amazing, flys level as can be, handles great, loves the big water. you can find em with #3's and bw 72c's and they are pretty bullet proof but mid 70's is top speed unless you run big power like i plan to

Ratman -- I hear ya, the first time I rode in my buddy's I commented on how flat it flew, he's running 572's right about 76 mph with trs in all the right conditions. It does love the great lakes chop.
I'm trying to find out if the cafe handles and flies like this also, or if it was one of those things that got changed that shouldn't have.

I have 540's (675HP NA) and TRS in the mistress. Great ride. I run 74 on the GPS in a light chop. Not going to be the fastest, but sipping cocktails and relaxing while other boats are holding on for life is common. Can't compare with the Cafe because I haven't owned one. Either boat is going to put a smile on your face.

They both fly level. The mistress loves the water. I believe because of the trs drives and the center of gravity. My cafe loves to fly with a bravo setup. When I'm running my tabs in rough water my brother with the mistress isn't even thinking about it. Let me know if I can answer any more question.

I'm thinking a set of Konrads and 700's NA in a cafe. I wonder how the 3A boats react w/wo tab? -- As that would be close to the Konrad set-up. And still be somewhat bulletproof.
As far as the tabs on the mistress -- do you think it's because of a heavier lay-up -- more weight forward?
And still need input on the bottom design -- is is the same or a bit different?

Re: Mistress and cafe hulls
I have an '85 Mistress with 3's (not A's) runs solid and true without even thinking of tabs. 498's with blowers low 70's ... trim the SSM's out to like 3-4 and she gets right up and out ... Flies like a 747 jumbo jet and lands just as smoooooth
Not sure on the Cafe vs. Mistress hull history.
