Speed and ride...
42 Tiger Vs 42 T/S ... the T/S is faster by about 7-8 mph with the same power. Most T/S are Bravo XR Boats not many T/S were built with #6 Drives I can only think of one. I think around 6 to 7 42 Tiger exist with #6's and a the rest with Bravo's.
The 42'x has more steps than the T/S and some think the x was a refinement of the T/S hull. I would be one of them I taught the T/S tended to run high in the water and lean left to right a little in calm waters. I did not feel that in bigger waters but my experience is limited to a couple rides.
I have about 400-500 hours running the two 42 Tiger straight hulls I have had one Bravo XR 700HP and currently own one #6 boat with two 1040HP. The most fun I have is going out in 4'to 6' footers for 30-40 minute rides. In those waters for fun rides the steps don't make a very big difference top speed is not usually reached and the ride is the fun part.
I have not ridden in a 42x but hear they kick azz. Hope this helps.
