Question Compass change 03 TG

So this weekend my compass decided to leak all the oil out. Can it be removed from the top, or is it secured from under the dash too?

Also, where can I get one that fits?

Pulls out from the top. Held in w/ 3 screws.

Call MFG (Look on the compass card for mfg) and get replacement.

They can be repaired as well. If the coating does not need to be redone you are better off having it repaired.

Go on line have the company send you the oil and the diaphram about $40.00. Also check the "O" ring in the fill hole. Should be a C. Plath / Merkur $714.00 for replacement . Good luck

Thanks for the good info. It sounds like repair is the way to go. I didn't know you could repair them. Anyway, I took the three screws out but its still stuck. It looks like maybe it was put in with silicone around it or something. I'm afraid I'm going to scratch up the housing trying to pry it loose.

I also refilled and replaced the seal in mine for under $50.00.

As I recall I just called the manufacture had them send me a new O ring and I ordered compass oil from the local marine supply store. Ask for compass oil.
I belive I have a Ritichie compass in my boat.
I would not send it out unless you belive it is incorrect. Even then an adjustment is easy enougf to do. Use a gps or another compass to make your adjustment.
